Of the 5,707 active cases in the country, 134 people are in serious condition. Ninety-one of those in serious condition are on ventilators.

Although 1,324,000 Israelis have recovered from the disease since the outset of the pandemic, 8,143 have died.

On the vaccination front, 6,259,063 Israelis have had at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 5,756,190 have received two doses. Over 4 million Israelis – 4,025,397 – have received all three available doses of the vaccine.

A nurse at a Clalit healthcare clinic in the southern Bedouin town of Rahat issued about 150 vaccination certificates to patients who had not been vaccinated against the disease.

The healthcare provider's system flagged unusual activity, prompting an investigation. During the police investigation, the young woman confessed to providing false documents and was immediately dismissed.

Clalit, Israel's largest healthcare provider, said the incident had been reported to the Health Ministry.

While Israel appears to be exiting the fourth wave of the outbreak thanks to inoculation with a booster shot of Pfizer's coronavirus vaccine, the Health Ministry is monitoring a new variant identified in Europe and in Congo that contains a mutation that had yet to be seen in variants of the disease. Coronavirus researchers are examining its potential impact and resistance to the vaccine.

Authorities are urging caution and the maintenance of barrier measures primarily in enclosed spaces.
