Special Yom Yerushalayim program entitled "Paratrooper in Jerusalem", featuring Shlomo Horwitz, sponsored by Shomrei Emunah's Israel Committee. Shlomo will open the program with a brief kumzitz of songs related to Yerushalayim, and then begin a presentation in which he 'becomes' two different characters based upon extensive research and interviews of former paratroopers who liberated the Kotel in '67. First we encounter the legendary Rabbi Yechiel Tukachinsky of Jerusalem (1872-1955) whose encyclopedic work on the Temple Mount is a classic. He shares some shocking insights on Jerusalem and Eretz Yisrael in general, as well as a poignant personal story. Next we encounter a veteran of the IDF Paratrooper Brigade who fought in the liberation of the Old City in '67 and was one of the first to arrive at the Kotel. Witness moments of historic flashback as he relives the rich history of the Temple Mount while dodging bullets and wondering just why he's risking his life. Recommended audience - adults, collegiates and high school students Admission: Free
