TAX FREE SHOPPING IN MARYLAND LAST DAY TODAY

TODAY IS THE LAST DAY TODAY
As reported on BaltimoreJewishLife.com on July 21st, 2010, tax-free shopping came to Maryland on Aug. 4th but today is the last day. Between Aug. 8 and Aug. 14, select clothing and footwear items sold for $100 or less will be exempt from Maryland̢۪s 6 percent state sales tax. Accessories are not included. Click here for a list of the tax exempt items.http://www.comp.state.md.us/shopmd/List-of-taxable-exempt-items.pdf The tax-free week will run from 12:01 a.m. Aug 8. to midnight Aug. 14, as the start of the new school year nears. Meanwhile, the state has also planned a tax-free weekend Feb. 19-21, during which the sales and use tax will not apply to certain Energy Star products or solar water heaters. Energy Star products means an air conditioner, clothes washer or dryer, furnace, heat pump, standard size refrigerator, compact fluorescent light bulb, dehumidifier, or programmable thermostat designated as meeting or exceeding the applicable Energy Star Efficiency requirements developed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy.
